Website: https://cpes.lab.uconn.edu/ What motivated you to join CLEAN EARTH? The increased frequency and severity of extreme weather events due to climate change are creating new challenges to distribution systems and communities. Severe weather is the major cause of damage to electric distribution networks and power outages in the United States. My research is to assess the current strength of the system to severe weather conditions under climate change scenarios and develop grid modernization technologies to achieve reliable and resilient grid of the future. The CLEAN EARTH initiative is perfectly aligned with this. What aspect of your research do you find most valuable for the people and communities? Advanced grid modernization technologies not only enable safe and reliable transition to carbon free grid of the future but also can minimize societal and economic impacts of power outages and improve community resilience. |
