What motivated you to join CLEAN EARTH?

I joined CLEAN EARTH to support the vision of a clean energy future that necessitates a multidisciplinary approach. My research on extreme weather, wind energy, and air quality modeling and prediction, together with my commitment to support, mentor, inspire the next generation of engineers, and assure a diverse and equitable society, guided my motivation to be actively involved in CLEAN EARTH.

What aspect of your research do you find most valuable for the people and communities?

An important focus of my research is to improve the prediction of extreme weather, offshore wind, and environmental degradation caused by anthropogenic activities such as eutrophication of freshwater ecosystems. All three areas of research have essential connections to community impacts. People and communities are affected by a timely and dependable forecast of extreme weather, and degradation of freshwater ecosystems. In addition, improvement of our modeling tools for prediction of extreme weather, offshore wind and their future impacted by climate change will guide decisions for protecting communities and ameliorating impacts.
